Childbirth Education for Expectant Parents

This class is designed for first-time parents as well as parents who have previously given birth. It is available to all expectant mothers and their support person, regardless of where she is receiving care. The series of four classes is taught by one of the birth attendants, and makes use of a combination of methods. It is an in-depth, informative series that explores the physiologic, emotional and spiritual aspects of birth, breast feeding and early parenting. The series is designed to educate you and your support person about all aspects of late pregnancy, labor, delivery and the immediate postpartum period. Focus is on learning about the process, thereby reducing fear and in turn reducing the risk of unnecessary interventions and complications. You won't find another Childbirth Class like this one! The cost ranges from $75.00 to $150.00 depending on location and instructor. Registration is required. Class size is limited to five couples per series. Weekend intensives are also offered. Breastfeeding Class and Support Group

In this class we focus on the benefits and how-to of breastfeeding. Expecting mothers can learn from experienced mothers and moms who are currently nursing can come to discuss their concerns, share their wisdom and encourage new moms who may be experiencing challenges. Special situations are also discussed. Plan to attend several classes before your baby is born. Mothers planning to adopt are also welcome to attend, as nursing your adopted newborn is possible! Siblings at Birth

This is a two hour class for children ages 4-12 who are planning to attend the birth of their sibling, or for parents who just want their older children to know more about the process of birth. We talk about the birth, changes in the family's structure, and the role of the new 'big' brother or sister. We will watch a gentle birth video and read a special story together.

Mother's Tea

This group meets on the third Thursday each month from 12:00-2:00 pm in Menomonie. It is for all expecting or new mothers in the community. Join us for an informal time of gathering to share stories, ask questions and network with other new moms. Each month we will have a guest presenter to discuss a topic of interest to new and expecting mothers. Light refreshments will be served, and tea, of course! There is no fee to join us for Mother's Tea.

We will be adding Mother's Tea to third Tuesday of each month in the Twin Cities in February 2010!
Natural Family Planning

This class is taught by Alice Heinzen, Certified Natural Family Planning Instructor. The series of three classes meets every other week. Registration is required.
